Stewart Cink Triumphs at Mitsubishi Electric Championship
Stewart Cink continued his successful run into 2026 by winning the Mitsubishi Electric Championship, marking his first victory of the year. The reigning PGA Tour Champions Player of the Year concluded 2025 with a win at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship and started this year strong with an impressive 8-under 64 at Hualalai Golf Course. Finishing at 23 under par, Cink secured the title three shots ahead of Angel Cabrera, who was making his debut in this prestigious event, earning $340,000 in the process.
Cink expressed the significance of winning this all-star event, highlighting the caliber of competitors he faced. He noted that starting the final day tied for the lead added pressure, but his ability to maintain focus and deliver a low round made the victory particularly meaningful. Key moments included a crucial par save on No. 8 and consecutive birdies on Nos. 14, 15, and 16, which helped him establish a comfortable lead. Retief Goosen finished third at 18 under, while defending champion Ernie Els tied for fourth at 17 under.

This golf tournament is the best
I have attended a number of PGA tourneys, including a number of US Open and PGA championships. While they are exciting, they are way too crowded to really have an enjoyable time. This was my 4th Valspar Championship, and my wife and I have had a wonderful time at each one. The course is beautiful, parking and transportation to the course efficient and simple, food and drink readily available and reasonably priced, and there are wonderful restrooms available in trailers!! We take our folding chairs and sit almost wherever we wish. A very nice touch has been the comfortable seats that have replaced many of the metal benches. Overall we have a wonderful time, and plan on attending annually for many years to come, as our Florida condominium is only 19 miles away!!
